CompTIA A+ 2/15/14 - 6/7/14

Hands-on course covering general computer hardware and technical support.  Participants learn to troubleshoot and repair hardware problems as well as to rebuild a PC from the ground up, install the operating system, and connect it to a network.  They also learn to install, configure, and troubleshoot Microsoft client side operating systems.  Provides a solid foundation for the CompTIA A+ 801 certification exam.

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:

•Identify the major components inside and outside of the computer.

•Understand the functionality of the CPU, Motherboard, Primary and secondary storage devices

•Build and configure a personal computer from individual components.

•Troubleshoot the motherboard and its associated components, storage devices, input, and output devices

•Implement procedures for adding and removing field replaceable hardware for computer systems.

•Analyze how the operating system interacts with computer hardware

•Use academic sources to identify the newest technologies in computer hardware
