Songwriting and Music Industry Camp (Residents) 7/28-8/1/14

Study songwriting and the business of the music industry from industry pros and William Paterson University faculty members. This summer camp will include: The Art of songwriting; The Art of lyric writing; Creativity and the creative process; Song Promotion; Powerful Pop Chord Progressions; Song Structure; Writing to a Track; The Creative Life; Performance rights organizations; Recording companies; Contracts; Social media’s role in the music and entertainment industry.

Faculty

 Martin Briley has become one of the most prominent writers in America, he has received orchestral commissions, and has written songs for such artists as Celine Dion, *NSYNC, Dream, Michael Bolton, Kenny Loggins, Pat Benatar, Jessica Andrews, 5-Star, Jeff Healey, Rebecca St. James, Nana Mouskouri, Willy Nile, Gregg Allman and Barry Manilow, to name a few.  

 Dana Calitri is one of the music industry’s top professionals.  A brilliant singer, multi-platinum selling songwriter and teacher, Dana is an integral part of the international music scene. Her music can be heard all over the world from the USA to the U.K to Europe, Japan, South America, Australia and the Philippines. Dana has written songs for platinum-selling artists such as American Idol’s CHRIS DAUGHTRY, SHINEDOWN, ORIANTHI, THEORY OF A DEADMAN, THE MAINE, DREAM, JESSICA ANDREWS, PLAY, DONNA SUMMER and many others.

 David Philp has 20+ year’s experience in the entertainment world working for PolyGram Records, the Universal Music Group, New Video (home video distributor of the A&E Network, History Channel & Biography Channel content), The Edge With Jake Sasseville (independent television show), and Greater Media Broadcasting (WDHA & WMTR radio).  He is currently the music coordinator at the Wayne United Methodist Church, Chief Organizer Guy of You Choose Music, a live music events company that raises oodles of big dollars for great non-profits and is an assistant professor of music at WPU.
